The ROOTED Framework

Empowering Safer Communities

Accountability-Centered Intervention Focused on Safer Families & Communities

The ROOTED Accountability Framework is a modern, evidence-informed Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) developed by Avery-Robinson Training & Consulting to promote participant accountability, reduce coercive and abusive behaviors, and support long-term community safety.

Designed for court-referred and voluntary participants, ROOTED moves beyond outdated approaches that frame abuse solely as an anger issue. The program addresses patterns of power, control, manipulation, intimidation, emotional abuse, and coercive behavior through structured accountability-based intervention and facilitated group engagement.

Our 26-Week Intervention Program

ROOTED is structured as a 26-week Domestic Violence Intervention Program designed to align with North Carolina DVIP standards, including a minimum of 39 intervention hours delivered through live facilitated group sessions.

The program incorporates:

  • Accountability-focused psychoeducation
  • Emotional regulation skill development
  • Coercive control education
  • Guided group discussion
  • Structured reflection activities
  • Behavioral accountability exercises
  • Survivor-centered intervention principles

Hybrid participation options may be available when appropriate to increase accessibility while maintaining accountability standards and facilitator oversight.

Why Choose Us?

Supporting Growth Through Proven Strategies

ROOTED was developed to address common gaps in traditional intervention programming, including:

  • Low participant engagement
  • Emotional avoidance
  • Limited practical skill development
  • Lack of education surrounding modern coercive control tactics
  • Limited accountability integration

The framework combines evidence-informed intervention principles with modern, trauma-informed facilitation practices designed to strengthen participant engagement while maintaining accountability and survivor-centered standards.

Our Approach

ROOTED operates from the belief that meaningful behavior change requires more than attendance alone.

The Framework Emphasizes:

  • Accountability without victim-blaming
  • Recognition of abusive behavior patterns
  • Emotional awareness and regulation
  • Respectful communication and boundaries
  • Long-term nonviolence planning
  • Community and family impact awareness
  • Survivor safety as the highest operational priority

What We Don't Do

  • Anger management
  • Couples counseling
  • Mediation
  • Reconciliation therapy

Instead, the program focuses on the underlying patterns associated with domestic violence and coercive control.
